Personal health challenges in her twenties combined with a broken health care system motivated Dr. Taz to pursue an alternative definition of health and healthy living. As a young resident, she was sick and without answers, and began searching for help to heal her health issues. Studying various systems of medicine including Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture and Ayurveda, she found a wealth of information not yet taught in conventional medical schools. It led her to opening her now nationally-recognized practice, CentreSpring MD. Today, Dr. Taz and her team work relentlessly to find a patient’s core health problems, their centre, in order to spring them forth in health, pulling from multiple systems of medicine, including integrative, functional, Chinese and holistic medicine.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors for GLiMMER, an international organization led by Dr. David Katz, MD, which is dedicated to health and healthy living, and the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Protection & Potential. As a passionate advocate for child health and nutrition, she is a committee member for UNICEFs Southeastern Speaker Committee, which exists to support UNICEF’s mission –to protect children’s rights and help meet their basic needs so they can reach their full potential.
Dr. Taz is passionate about the profound connection and synergy between women and children’s health and their ultimate impact on the health of the entire family. Her Atlanta-based center is dedicated to helping patients understand his or her core health issues and develop personalized treatment plans. She continues to train her team in thinking exhaustively about each patient and expanding their options for health and healthy living.
With an established agenda of improving women and children’s health, Dr. Taz expanded her reach through media in 2003. Since then, she has served as a medical expert for CNN Headline News, a Dr. Oz Sharecare expert, columnist and contributing editor for Prevention Magazine and has been featured on numerous media outlets including, Live with Kelly & Ryan, The Doctors, TODAY, The Dr. Oz Show, Access Hollywood, The Weather Channel, EXTRA! and more. She continues to have a strong media presence and desire to educate others about living a healthy life.
